That was summer

In our class we wrote a poem about summer. We got our inspiration from the poem summer by  Marci
Ridlon.

That Was Summer
Image result for summerRemember that time
when the waves
were crashing down
on the beach
pulling you slightly
every time,
the sand deforming
every step you take?
Remember how the
rocks rolled away
after you pushed them?
That was summer.

Remember that time
when you hit the water
in the pool
or hit the ground
after jumping off
a pile of rocks
or the time when
you saw the clouds
swiftly blow away
in the wind?
Remember how the waves
nearly stole your shoes?
That was summer.

Remember that time
when you drank L&P
at the car park
with your bare feet
getting burnt by the hot ground
or when you went to the waterfall
and stood on a rock in the water
and thought “I’m the king of my own island”?
Remember how the time
came when you had to go?
That was summer.

Remember that time
when you went
swimming in the river
when your dad said
not to
or when the iron
from the tracks on the digger
felt like flaming hot lava
or when the rocks
hurt your feet
when you were at the river?
Remember how the
sand covered your
feet and the heat made you
want to stay there forever?

That was summer.
